Since today is officially Halloween I thought I should share the weekend pictures with y'all.  I had a great weekend [I hope everyone else did too!], but now I'm sucked into the craziness of the week.  Although, what I can promise is a great post tomorrow about party dresses since the season for all things dressed up is approaching!

I'm off to Tallahassee this afternoon for some good old fashioned Saved By The Bell fun.  I am currently feeling slightly creepy as the 25 year old that still dresses up and goes to the college bars, especially because I am 99% sure 99% of the people there won't remember my costume from when they were 5 and the babysitter was watching tv know my costume.  But I get to wear my fanny pack again, which I have grown to love.  Not in a Gucci fanny pack way, but in a more ridiculous "I bought this at a hipster store [read American Apparel] but intend on using it solely for costumes" way.  See below for the fanny's debut last year.

But back to what this post is really about....Etsy Feature Friday.  And I have a good one for y'all.  I fell in love with the rich textures and fabrics of Melissa Tabor's pieces.  They're ultra flattering for any shape and classic enough to keep around for years.  Who doesn't love tweed?  Well apparently, her model [which I'm now thinking is the designer herself] doesn't because she looks like she's been forced to eat against her will and is completely distraught about it.

It's almost Halloween and if any of you recognize the title of this post [hello tween years], then you know EXACTLY what my costume is this year.  That's right people...Jessie Spano circa the caffeine pill addiction is comin' at you [well at least Tallahassee, which is where I'll be celebrating with my bffs Zack and Kelly].  I was able to score some amazing mom jeans that I will cherish, and hopefully wear later in life to embarrass the shit out of my children...oh I can't wait.

I. am. in. lurv.  I saw this Tory Burch double wrap bracelet [mild obsession already exists] on the Nordstrom website and couldn't stop picturing myself in it...you know, like naked with just this leopard wrap bracelet.  Totally normal.  Creepiness aside, little splashes of leopard are what I love most.  It's by far the easiest print to wear because it acts as a neutral.  And on your wrist?  Jackpotz.  Get frisky with it.  meow.

Apparently the new "it" thing to do for [some] celebrities is wear more budget friendly jewelry.  How nice of them!  Catch 22 people...they're now taking our inventory, but at least what they're wearing and what we're lusting after is actually somewhat obtainable.  I have said lusting experience pretty much every episode of Gossip Girl.  Yes, I watch it and love it.  Shame on me?  Never.  I love my DVR.

But back to the matter at hand: reasonable jewelry that looks expensive.  I discovered RichRocks not too long ago [desperately searching for a necklace Miss Blair Waldorf was wearing] and apparently young Hollywood and TV beat me to it.  BUT the jewelry is some of the best I've seen for the prices [everything is UNDER $100].

I love simplicity.  Simplicity translates into classic and in fashion that's extremely meaningful and budget friendly.  The kind of stuff you find and know that you can wear forever and eventually give to someone [gbf, bf, family] and the phrase, "This was popular?" won't exit their mouths.  But honestly, I buy this kind of stuff because I like staples in my everyday jewelry.  Stuff I now automatically put on without having to think about it.  Most of which consist of studs, watches, solid bracelets, nothing too flashy.  My mom gave me a couple pieces of her hammered silver jewelry from her younger days and I love it.  It goes with everything I wear now, even though we could not be more opposite in our love for fashion.  Lisa Lehmann's shop on etsy [the bead girl] reminds me of the stuff I gravitate towards for the day to day.  The prices are reasonable and the pieces go with everything, especially the multiple trend that is on every one's arm party and fingers!

It's boot time people, so GET EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!  I love boots and I can now wear them totally free of my ex-co worker's [creepy] sexual comments that used to make us ladies run to our offices and hideout.  I'm not exaggerating...every time we would wear boots he would make disturbing sounds, followed by the most inappropriate, weird comments that would make you feel like you needed to go home and shower.  FREEDOM PEOPLE, FREEDOM...it feels great!  And so does this weather, so it's time to start thinking about the comfy things that cover half of our legs, or just our cankles.  I tend to not spend too much of my paycheck on boots since I like to collect them, so when I find a couple that are different from the pack and still affordable I get sartorially high.  Like when I saw these two from Zara...

James Franco is the new poster boy for Gucci, which I honestly don't care about.  What I do care about is how gorgeous he looks in their new campaign.  Print, tape on wall of office, act like I'm not 16 and just saw my first penis.

Chambray

I've been searching for a great chambray shirt.  To me that means one that doesn't look like I've been ropin' cattle for days or that I stole my mom or dad's old worn through painting shirt [no judgment if that's the route you took].  I found a couple, but the price was upwards of $100+ and that is not something I can get on board with because, honestly, I'm not entirely sure how much I'll end up wearing it.  I know I can easily pair it with my many summery skirts and printed bottoms, but I want to incorporate it into my winter wardrobe too...and I'm against wearing cowboy tuxedos.  So I found this Rubbish one at Nordstrom and it's only $49.  It arrived yesterday and I'm really happy about it.  The wash is just right, not too dark and not bleach...AND the fit is really flattering and comfortable.  I will officially stop my search and keep some extra dollar bills in my wallet.

Lace for Less

Lace is classic, romantic, and overly ladylike.  I fell in love with the Diane von Furstenberg dress on the left when I saw it on ShopBop.  The cut is perfectly flattering and the exposed lace edges is what I love most, but I have tons of dresses and I just can't justify spending $325 for a dress that I have no reason to buy [the devil on my shoulder says this reasoning is flawed].  I did set out to find comparable replacements though and thought the Zara and h&m ones were pretty damn close, which of course, makes me happy.  The nice thing about lace is that you can easily go in two directions with styling it: keep it clean and feminine, sticking with accessories like flats, pumps, and layering simple jewelry or you can toughen it up with boots and blazers to add a balance of menswear to the outfit.  Either way, it's a win.

ETSY FEATURE FRIDAY

I'm home for the weekend [yay!] and spending the day at Universal Studios with Harry Potter and his cohorts [judging eyes, judging eyes].  Then Saturday night I'll be attending some sort of ball with my parents and LUCKILY my dress covers my back because in our intramural [I emphasize because apparently the people who sign up forget this little adjective] softball game last night I got pegged with the damn ball in between my shoulder blade and spine...needless to say, I'm hurting and my back is ugly. 

In honor of my little nugget dachshund back home, Oscar, I thought I would showcase the adorable nugget jackets I found from Voyagers K9 Apparel.  The jackets are so cute and sporty, obviously what any dog would want.  We once tried to have Oscar "dress up" as Sherlock Holmes, but he hated the layers and ripped them off, so I think I'll leave these jackets for others to purchase.
