is it friday yet?

What do you know...I'm ready for the weekend.  I haven't been in Atlanta for a weekend in a month and I won't be again until mid February.  Crazy travel people.

In the mean time, this post from #whatshouldwecallme has my co-workers and me dying.  Mostly because our male co-workers always make comments on how much hummus we eat and how women are universally obsessed with it.  #TRUTH

Have a great Thursday!

jewelry cravings

I would like to think I have enough jewelry already, but that's never stopped me from buying more that I think I'll get some great wear out of.  Lately, I've been craving a wide spectrum of pieces from basics [i.e. layered gold chains I can pair with everything] to extreme statement earrings that will stop people in their tracks.  I have become a crazy stacker lately too.  I want every color of the Margaret Elizabeth bangles below.  The great thing?  None of the pieces I'm currently craving are over $100 and most are under $50.

Birthdays

Today is my birthday!  Another year older.  I spent yesterday morning at jury duty.  I also was close to not hearing my name dismissed because I couldn't stay awake.  Oh well, I'm free now.  I received my presents from my family already and, of course, loved them all.  I still have to figure out if I want my cruiser bike or a nicer camera for my last present.  Lack of research delays that conquest at the moment.  But since it's my birthday, I thought I'd post something that I can almost assure you I won't receive for another decade, but that I am absolutely obsessed with.  If not now, when?  You have to start making a list of all those long shots early on, just in case someone comes into your life that is willing to purchase them for you.

Still figuring out what color combination I like, but I have time...

FF:active

Sorry my post was delayed today...I was busy stalking Ticketmaster for my tickets to "The Package Tour."  No shame in my game.  Great Friday buy, but since those tickets are just above my $30 mark, I'll have to find another deal for you all to buy [although, if you ask me, revisiting my awkward love of r&b from my youth is priceless].

Lately, along with my pajama purchases, I've been trying to find nice, affordable workout wear.  I'm a fan of Old Navy's active line because it holds up and doesn't break the bank.  Not to mention, there is always a discount code.  My most recent purchase was their half-zip GoDRY Running Top.  Lightweight, so they're easy to layer to keep warm, and quick to throw on to run to the gym or errands [because, if we're being honest...sometimes you want to run errands in workout wear on the weekends so people think you're more productive than they are].  I ordered mine a size up, so it would be roomy and comfortable.  My ideal fit when the temps are freezing and I add on layers under and over my jackets.  They're usually $22.94, but with the discount code SECRET, the end price will run you $18.35.

etsy find

I haven't cruised through the endless items on etsy for awhile now, but my friend posted this local [to her] designer on facebook and I could not get enough of her dresses.  The line is called Suite Thirty Three and the designer, Emily Papuga, is based in Charleston.  I'm obsessed with things I can't have and can't wear.  Most of these dresses fall into that category due to the really low back, which makes me want them more.  I've found myself sitting for hours trying to figure out a way or a bra that allows me to wear this all around town.  For now I'll continue to stare at them and try to push them on people that have no problem with this cut.

my best friend, my mother.

I spent all day yesterday trying to upload this video of my mother to little success.  The weekend home was great and I'm ready to go back in two weeks for more parties.  Until then, I'll watch this video and thank my lucky stars that mom has a talent worth showing others.

Frugal Friday

I'm home in Florida for the holiday weekend and I could not be happier.  Besides getting to see my friends and family, the weather in Atlanta has been disgusting and I'm in desperate need of sunshine.  I don't think I'll do much shopping while I'm home due to a busy schedule, but you just never know...

This week's FF showcases some of the reasonable, trendy, and just plain awesome clutches ASOS carries.  I've had great luck in the past with ASOS and their handbags have yet to disappoint.  They all hover around the $30 mark and are worth every penny.

Finally, someone is thinking...

I dream up a lot of things and search for them relentlessly.  Most of them are plain and should be easy to find, but sometimes designers and brands just do too much.  I'm also moving away from wearing monumental heights in the heel department.  I'll be honest.  My laziness accounts for about 90% of it.  I'm not saying you need to give up entirely and wear crocs [I curse you] or sneaks, but the fun shoes tend to be in the 4"+ club.  And there is no winner in that combo.

I discovered a website called CHROMATICgallerie that offers 3 different heel heights [2", 3", or 4"], a slew of colors [pretty much everyone you could possibly dream up], different fabrics [leather, suede, patent leather, or faux fur], and different widths.  What a concept...  The best part: they're reasonable!  Zooey Deschanel is a big fan and it's easy to see why.  All of your shoe problems have now been solved.

Savin' Dollas

There are a lot of "after holiday" sales going on right now, but the best one so far IMHO is C. Wonder's additional 50% off all sale.  I am lucky because, along with the online sale, I also have a store to pop into directly across from my work building.  The inventory is somewhat different as far as colors, sizes, and availability goes, so it's nice to see both options.

I'm happy with everything I purchased so far from the sale and am tempted to keep looking.  In the past, my purchases have encompassed pretty much everything they offer and I can honestly say it's all great.  Clothing, jewelry, house hold items...it's all great.  Here are my favorites:

Sateen Cropped Pant

Studs Calf Hair Cuff

Studs Calf Hair Skinny Cuff

pajama jam

The title of this post [sadly] was the title of a legit "pajama party" at a friend's apartment complex.  I don't know what creeps me out more, being locked in a room with strangers that decided to go to a pajama party, or the fact that 20-30 year olds are throwing one...with people they don't know.  Either way, I prefer to show only my close friends and family my pajamas.

With that said, lately I've been trying to update my pajama collection with things that I would actually be proud of if said people were to see them.  I like comfort, so most of my pajamas are cotton pants or shorts and t-shirts from college.  Trendy, I know, but I've tried to become even trendier recently.  For Christmas, my brothers gifted me two sets of
J. Crew pajamas [I picked out and purchased them of course, but how thoughtful, right?].  I already own J. Crew's nightshirt and LIVE in it.  Monogrammed in all its glory.  I'm still hesitant to spend more than $50 on something that I sleep in though.  Nevertheless, here are my favorites:

Because I love me.

After much needed family time and rest, I've recovered from numerous things and am ready to tackle this here blog again.  I've always loved personalized jewelry [not talking about the hoop earrings with your name through them] and have been known to monogram a few things in my days.

Lately though, I've been really drawn to dainty jewelry that also doubles as a way to add a personal touch to my wardrobe.  And who am I kidding?  I love my name, my life, my family and love the thought of passing those things down to future family members through jewelry.  I found these adorably simple personalized bracelets from Sarah Chloe and haven't been able to stop thinking about them.  I want a silver and gold and want to add them to my multiple bracelets I already stack to give that personal touch.  I just can't decide if I want the round or the square one...
