the most frugal of fridays

Happy Labor Day Weekend everyone!  Mine will be spent in town relaxing with friends and watching football because we are officially in the final countdown to ROYAL WEDDING #2!  [sooo excited]  As instructed by one of my straight male co-workers, this weekend is also my last weekend to indulge in wearing white [idiot].  Little does he know I'm going to rock that color until I blend into the snow.

But for this Frugal Friday I thought a skirt that works now and into the Fall would be a great item to showcase.  ASOS does it again [you really can't beat their free shipping and deals] with this cute horse skirt.  I'll wear mine now with a t-shirt and flats and then with a sweater, tights, and boots come colder weather.  Simply perfection.  Enjoy your holiday weekends!

look for less {RH-W}

I've said it before and I'll say it again...Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is amazing and her style is untouchably chic.  She's under my list of girl crushes and has been for awhile.

Her airport style is ridic.  She looks fashionable AND comfortable in all of her photos.  I don't care if she's dying inside from walking through the airport in heels, her game face doesn't expose an ounce of pain and I'm on board lady.  While my airport style is a lesser, more casual version of hers, she makes me believe that I could look just as amazing, but with no one to photograph me or care about who I was.  I'll take it.  Others will wonder.

Here is her look for less:

better late than never

I rarely forget an obsession.  It's normally with clothing and accessories and the piece always lingers in the back of my mind, waiting for me to find something similar.  That has happened today people.  Way back when, I posted about my obsession for Nina Garcia and her Preen top.  Today, I found the best look-a-like version that costs a fraction of the price of her top.  Excitement all around.  I'm slowly transitioning my heavy influx of black into my wardrobe for Fall and Winter and I would wear this with black pants all season.  Depressed artist look here I come.

polished

I suck at growing out my finger nails.  I would like to think the list of things I suck at is short, but I'm worried that's not the case.  I've been trying really hard [i.e. eating jell-o and painting them with strengthener everyday] this past month to grow them to a suitable length and keep them pretty, so I'll have something for the kind asian man to paint for Laura's wedding.

But since they've been bare for so long now, I've been itching to see some color on them.  I spotted some of Essie's new colors this weekend and am dying to try them.  Fall is almost upon us and I'll be wearing neutrals and branching out with some darks.  Here are my favorites:

virginia johnson

I was casually "flipping" through Matchbook yesterday and saw the cutest tunic top.  I immediately clicked on it and was quickly introduced to Virginia Johnson.  The best part?  Everything I clicked on is on sale...like 50-75% on sale.  If you're unfamiliar with the brand, much like I was, Virginia Johnson is a textile designer from Canada and has illustrated for Kate Spade, as well as numerous fashion mags.  Her prints are fun and look super comfortable.  Both things I enjoy.  I'm obsessed with the lobster print and can't decide what style.  Story of my life.

the big one

Lilly Pulitzer is officially up and running [after some website malfunctions] with their Endless Summer Sale

If you have no desire to own anything from this bright and cheerful brand, stop reading...or at least look at her updated styles to see if you've had a change of heart.

If you have ever wanted anything from this Palm Beach genius, then head over to their site now.  This is their sale of all sales, and everything is extremely affordable.  The easiness of her dresses and skirts makes them perfect for anything, whether it's running out for the day, going to work, or going to a party, these pieces all fit the bill.  I scooped up the dress I'm wearing to Laura's rehearsal dinner and some great skirts [I live in these things for spring/summer weather].

the shower

On Friday I told y'all about the monogram shower we threw for Laura.  So, after going crazy with instagram, I thought I'd show y'all what the final product looked like.  Enjoy!

.FF.

It's Friday yet again and I couldn't welcome it more.  Last night a group of us threw a monogram shower for Laura, the bride to be.  I was beyond happy with the results and everyone enjoyed themselves [at least I hope they did...I mean how can you object to food and booze?].

In other news, the only thing I have planned for this weekend is getting my hair fixed!  If you follow me on twitter you have already seen my rant, but if not here is the gist of it:  my mom bought me one of those fancy hair ties that "don't crease your hair" and "look super cute like a ribbon."  This is all great until I put that hair tie on my wet hair and it dyed my blond hair BLUE.  that shit cray.  I look a smidge hipster and I'm not trying to, BUT there is a happy ending because I emailed the company and they quickly (I mean within an hour of emailing them) called and emailed me back to say they were terribly sorry and that they would cover any and all costs to get my hair fixed, including if I wanted a cut and style, etc.

AND I thought customer service was dead...

So back to the post that is supposed to save you pennies.  I have a little scarf obsession.  If it wasn't so hot here in the summer I would pull a Jessica Alba and put one on with all my outfits.  Maybe this little accessory is why I love Fall so much?  But anyways...I found one at Madewell when looking at their sale [extra 30% with code LOVEIT] and for some reason [maybe the neons] I fell in love.  So bright, so fun.

boyfriend's back

So....boyfriend jeans are one trend that I hope never go out of style.  Not because I wear them all the time, but because they are an acceptable and stylish sort of comfort in the jeans spectrum.  Not to mention they are such a refreshing deviation from the Kris Kross days of baggy denim that were completely unflattering and the heydays of crotch flirting, crack showing low rise jeans.  These jeans have been around for years now, but lately I've noticed brands debuting a "skinny" boyfriend jean and I'm completely intrigued.  Not so much crotch drop, but still the same style.  Count me in.
