I have spoken time and time again about the versatility of pieces.  A person should not underestimate how priceless it is when you actually find one that truly fills this position.

Often times, the versatile pieces are either ones that steal the show [i.e. you simply add different things each time to keep the focus on the top/dress/skirt] or things that add to an outfit [i.e. jackets/blazers/go to pants or jeans], but many people don't think to take their basics [such as this J.Crew lightweight sweatshirt] and pair it with bolder, dressier items to create a nice balance of high/low.

Sometimes, I even catch myself keeping my more casual knits all to themselves, away from my other clothing.  Mix them people.  If for nothing else but comfort!

Spring Forward

After this weekend, I'm officially ready for Spring.  Maybe not full blown Summer, but definitely Spring.  I want light layers, wedges, and trouser jeans for days.  Those are the things creeping onto my wanted list.  I have a couple pairs of trouser jeans and every time I wear them, I kick myself for not doing it more often.  I guess it's because I prefer to wear them with wedges [closed and sandal varieties] instead of heels and most of those styles are more Spring than Winter in my closet.

Well, here they come because all I want to pair them with are light, flowy layers and cardigans/jackets.  Perfect combination and it pulls the look together.  Another trend I've been dying to try, but seem to be too lazy to put it together when I'm getting ready in the morning?  Monochromatic looks.  This bright red just looks awesome.  And you all know I can't get enough of green...especially this bright, minty one from J. Crew.  Well, that's set.  Now I just need the warmer weather to stick around!

look for less {RH-W}

I've said it before and I'll say it again...Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is amazing and her style is untouchably chic.  She's under my list of girl crushes and has been for awhile.

Her airport style is ridic.  She looks fashionable AND comfortable in all of her photos.  I don't care if she's dying inside from walking through the airport in heels, her game face doesn't expose an ounce of pain and I'm on board lady.  While my airport style is a lesser, more casual version of hers, she makes me believe that I could look just as amazing, but with no one to photograph me or care about who I was.  I'll take it.  Others will wonder.

Here is her look for less:

Shorts of Sorts

Over the years, as I've become more comfortable with my body, I've grown to love shorts and even more so, printed shorts.  They're pretty much the bee's knees when it comes to my summer time wardrobe.  Growing up in Florida, and now residing in Atlanta, shorts are a staple in my closet.  Lately though, I've branched out and allowed them to dress me up instead of letting them cover me up [or lack thereof] with their stereotypical casualness.

Dressing up shorts is fun and comfortable and a great alternative, especially for someone who shouldn't be wearing anything with an opening [i.e. skirts and dresses] when drinking my morning, mid-morning, afternoon, and dinner cocktail.  What I love most though, is seeing shorts styled in the intermediate phase...you know, not with a boring t-shirt, but not with heels.  My latest obsession is shorts with blouses and lightweight knits and cute sandals or flats.  What's there not to love?  The comfort is there, but so is the style and warm feeling of looking put together, without having to sacrifice a body part.
