Easy Breezy Summer

Since I've been traveling a lot this month (i.e. every weekend) and packing overnight bags to stay at a friend's house due to my car being in the shop (i.e. I hit a pole in a parking lot), I've been grabbing easy, versatile pieces.  I own variations of everything below, if not the actual item, and find that I live in them because of their comfort.

The best part about these pieces is that they look pulled together without the annoyance of layers and special undergarments.  Slip them on as easily as a cotton shirt, but look 10x more presentable.  That's my game and it hasn't failed me yet.

Side note...is it already the last day of July?!

'merica

I'm here again, long enough to tell you I'll be gone until Sunday in the beautiful sunshine of Florida.  I haven't been home to see my family and relax at my parents' house since March.  I'm beyond ready to be there.  My parents are throwing a big ol' patriotic party for the 4th and my outfit (which I've had for some time) is below.

I saw these shorts in the Lilly store and had to have them.  I'm a total sucker for anything patriotic and these firework shorts are major.  The icing on the cake?  They glow in the dark.  Say Whaaaat?

The peplum tanks are from J. Crew (surprise, surprise) and I actually wasn't sure if I'd keep them when I first ordered them online.  Needless to say, I've worn them to death, therefore will not be anywhere close to giving them back.  I hope everyone enjoys our country's birthday and hopefully gets to relax over the (somewhat) long weekend!

Love is in the Air?

I'm not one of those people that can't get enough of Valentine's Day.  I'm also not bitter about it.  I have a boyfriend, I just don't really care if presents are exchanged [although, I will never turn away a present] or an extravagant dinner is planned.  I like to avoid crowds due to my extreme impatience at an type of inefficiency or prolonged wait.  Which makes me think that the people who do love to celebrate Valentine's Day are probably just as happy that I am not around them.  Win, win.

With that being said, I do love pinks and reds and the incorporation of hearts in almost every line lately.  There are many ways to dress for this lovely day, whether it be subtlety with small pops of pink or red, or very literal with hearts all over your outfit.  Either way is great and you should definitely have fun.  What I like to stress is that this day shouldn't be celebrated by only couples [don't get me started on relationship views of some crazy people out there].  I've loved myself for 2.7 decades and have celebrated with single friends over the years with beer and burgers and I still can't get enough of myself.  And to that, everyone should celebrate...especially while wearing cute clothing.  I personally think I might venture out and wear my J.Crew Heart throb shirt.  Here are some outfit ideas to prep you for this coming Thursday.

Shorts of Sorts

Over the years, as I've become more comfortable with my body, I've grown to love shorts and even more so, printed shorts.  They're pretty much the bee's knees when it comes to my summer time wardrobe.  Growing up in Florida, and now residing in Atlanta, shorts are a staple in my closet.  Lately though, I've branched out and allowed them to dress me up instead of letting them cover me up [or lack thereof] with their stereotypical casualness.

Dressing up shorts is fun and comfortable and a great alternative, especially for someone who shouldn't be wearing anything with an opening [i.e. skirts and dresses] when drinking my morning, mid-morning, afternoon, and dinner cocktail.  What I love most though, is seeing shorts styled in the intermediate phase...you know, not with a boring t-shirt, but not with heels.  My latest obsession is shorts with blouses and lightweight knits and cute sandals or flats.  What's there not to love?  The comfort is there, but so is the style and warm feeling of looking put together, without having to sacrifice a body part.
