the shower

On Friday I told y'all about the monogram shower we threw for Laura.  So, after going crazy with instagram, I thought I'd show y'all what the final product looked like.  Enjoy!

.FF.

It's Friday yet again and I couldn't welcome it more.  Last night a group of us threw a monogram shower for Laura, the bride to be.  I was beyond happy with the results and everyone enjoyed themselves [at least I hope they did...I mean how can you object to food and booze?].

In other news, the only thing I have planned for this weekend is getting my hair fixed!  If you follow me on twitter you have already seen my rant, but if not here is the gist of it:  my mom bought me one of those fancy hair ties that "don't crease your hair" and "look super cute like a ribbon."  This is all great until I put that hair tie on my wet hair and it dyed my blond hair BLUE.  that shit cray.  I look a smidge hipster and I'm not trying to, BUT there is a happy ending because I emailed the company and they quickly (I mean within an hour of emailing them) called and emailed me back to say they were terribly sorry and that they would cover any and all costs to get my hair fixed, including if I wanted a cut and style, etc.

AND I thought customer service was dead...

So back to the post that is supposed to save you pennies.  I have a little scarf obsession.  If it wasn't so hot here in the summer I would pull a Jessica Alba and put one on with all my outfits.  Maybe this little accessory is why I love Fall so much?  But anyways...I found one at Madewell when looking at their sale [extra 30% with code LOVEIT] and for some reason [maybe the neons] I fell in love.  So bright, so fun.

boyfriend's back

So....boyfriend jeans are one trend that I hope never go out of style.  Not because I wear them all the time, but because they are an acceptable and stylish sort of comfort in the jeans spectrum.  Not to mention they are such a refreshing deviation from the Kris Kross days of baggy denim that were completely unflattering and the heydays of crotch flirting, crack showing low rise jeans.  These jeans have been around for years now, but lately I've noticed brands debuting a "skinny" boyfriend jean and I'm completely intrigued.  Not so much crotch drop, but still the same style.  Count me in.

Piping

It's cooled down a bit here in Atlanta [and I officially just jinxed it, so it will be back up in the death ranges tomorrow] and it feels great, but it's cool enough that I grab light layers in the mornings.  I'm picky about my layers and like them to be comfortable with a little stretch.  A nice cotton or lycra works, but there's nothing worse than a stiff blazer.  I don't why, but I feel like I move around a lot more than a normal person, so I try to find seriously comfortable and stylish lightweight layers and blazers for fall and winter.  Probably because I never want to look like this:

The trend with all these things right now is piping [It was also popular last year, when J.Crew had their school boy blazer piped and I'm still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger].  Which is great because it's one of those tiny details that I can't get enough of.  Almost like a tassel...can't get enough of those either.  I found a lot of steals on these layers, so get started, or don't because you are smarter than me and waiting until you actually need these layers for good.

skirting around

I'm pretty sure [as in 99.9%] the last time I purchased anything from American Eagle was over a decade ago, but when I saw this skirt featured in a magazine I actually thought about making a purchase.  The coloring allows for pretty much any top.  Perfect for now with a tank or shirt and into fall with leggings and/or a sweater.

green with envy:jade

Jade is by far one of my favorite shades of green.  It brings out my eyes and compliments all of my features [err...vain moment], but it's not just me-this shade does that for everyone [comeback from vain moment].

Jade is huge for Fall, so be ready to see this color everywhere.  It pairs perfectly with navy, taupe, gray, eggplant, and a lighter teal, but looks amazing with metallics as well.

frugal friday

Today's post is frugal due to a discount code, but I don't want to hear anybody complain about HOW we get to the cheap prices around here.  GAP's friends [minus the family] event is going on right now, giving you an extra 30% off every purchase with code GAPFRIENDS.

As I was browsing the merch, their half-sleeve sweaters caught my eye.  The stripes and bright pink versions are great and even better when the temps start cooling off and you need an in between layer, or want to start layering outfits earlier than the typical individual.  Or even more so as a great throw on piece for work or comfort.  The stripes will cost you $27.97 and the solid will be $24.46 after the discount.  Feel free to explore the other deals...it's always better when you get to cut a chunk of the total off at the end [I mean who actually wants the final price to be displayed on the page/tag]!
