prints & peplum

My 3 day work week is insane [tough life, I know], but before I head off to Vegas for my brother's 30th birthday [can't wait!!] I thought I'd share what I am wearing today.

Easy printed top, just enough to make it stand out more than your run-of-the-mill shirt.  Comfy booties that I absolutely live in.  My favorite skinny jeans.  Basic gold jewelry.  Once the temps cool off I'll add a waterfall cardigan, scarf, or blazer to the look.  Comfort + put together always wins in my book.

put a collar on it

Speaking of ladylike details in yesterday's post, I can't seem to get enough of detailed collars.  I'm kind of over the basic collars (i.e. peter pan on everything) that were everywhere last year, and I'm really over the collar necklaces (mostly because they just never look right to me), but the ones I've seen lately have grabbed my attention.

These collars, and their partnered tops, offer a little more and I can't get enough.  I own the J.Crew sweatshirt with the chiffon collar from last year and wear it to death.  This time, I wanted something more, like the ones below.  They look perfectly feminine tucked into a skirt, or a little bit of tomboy meets girl-next-door with skinnies and flats.  Either way, I'll definitely be buying one of these to add to my collection.

Parisian Chic

I saw this top last week and fell in love.  From far away it looks like an elegant, printed blouse, but if you look closely, there are women sitting at a table drinking on it [it's called the "wine & dine" top].  HELLO, stuff like this speaks to me.  I immediately wanted to pair it with my go to J. Crew Cafe Capris [aka, the perfect ankle pant] and a pop of color.

I crave these types of outfits, a feminine blouse with a sleek pair of pants, and wear them a good bit in the time period where summer fades to fall.  When the weather gets colder, I simply throw on an extra layer.  Usually, a cardigan or blazer of some sort.

ASOS Summer Dress Roundup

Well, I'm on my way to the beach [Anna Maria Island] and can't wait to  relax with 13 girlfriends.  Sun, sand, and a beer in my hand...or two, or five.  Memorial weekend is here and that means no looking back at the weather.  Full steam ahead, I'm prepared to sweat through summer and totally enjoy it.

ASOS has always been my little hidden gem for cheap, trendy, cute clothing.  I've talked about them before, but for those of you that don't know, it's an online UK retailer that carries all sorts of clothing in all sorts of price ranges, but for the most part remains pretty reasonable.  Right now they are having a sale [20% off everything with code TAKE20].  Free shipping and free returns are the regular with them, so it's pure discounts and who doesn't love that?

I'm ready to get a couple staple summer dresses after swapping out my clothes the other night.  Below are some of my favorites from browsing the site.  Just an FYI, the prices aren't listed below, but all of these dresses are under $50.

The Ultimate Maxi

The greatest find when shopping is a piece you know will be versatile.  Versatile in a way that shortens your deliberation time to a fraction of the original.  The most difficult kind for me is the piece that will work for day to night, but various events.  Such as brunch, eating out, concerts, shopping, but also weddings, dinners, and parties in general.  I have numerous things in my closet that work for different day time events or work to play, but very few of them also work for a more upscale event like a wedding.

When I saw this Lovers + Friends maxi I immediately knew it would be the piece in my closet that filled this gap.  I am obsessed with the back details and the fact that I own NOTHING like this in my closet.  Such a beautiful, bright print.  More so, if you can wait a month, Her Element is getting this dress back in stock for $40 cheaper than Revolve's price.  Why do I know this?  Because I'm cheap and noticed H.E.'s had gone out of stock and quickly emailed them to make sure they were getting more.  I have a wedding in May that I know I'll wear this to, as well as a few more over the Summer months and into Fall that it will be perfect for too.  I'll be keeping it simple with  black and gold accessories to make sure the print is showcased [like it could be missed].

green with envy:jade

Jade is by far one of my favorite shades of green.  It brings out my eyes and compliments all of my features [err...vain moment], but it's not just me-this shade does that for everyone [comeback from vain moment].

Jade is huge for Fall, so be ready to see this color everywhere.  It pairs perfectly with navy, taupe, gray, eggplant, and a lighter teal, but looks amazing with metallics as well.
