black&white

I wasn't lying when I said I was on a Target kick this week.  This black and white striped maxi proves it.  I've officially found all of your summer staples.  I've passed this maxi the last dozen times I've been in Target and pick it up every time.  I have yet to try it on and pull the trigger, but I'm sure I'll do it soon enough.  Something as simple as this doesn't need to deplete your bank account.  There is no crazy pattern or cool details, keep it simple and don't break the bank.  Target's version is $28, while the Mikoh one is $195.  Same cut, same color combo.  I say Target all day.

*side note - I have no idea why they call it "see through dress" because it's not at all, but the marketing person behind that needs to be fired.

maxi for all

So, I have no shame.  Most of you know that, and if you didn't, you should have.  I've been cruising the Target clothing a lot this week and found another gem.  This is where the shame has left the building because the maxi dress I found is maternity.  I am the farthest thing from pregnant, well my hips could throw people off, but rest assured I'm not.

Luckily, this dress doesn't apply to just those that are "eating for two."  And, if I'm being honest, sometimes I am in that category, even though I may not be welcome.  But, that's the good thing about knit maxi dresses: they all hang the same and are super comfortable.  Therefore, the maternity label doesn't apply....and this is a keeper.

Battle of the Blues

While running errands yesterday at lunch, I stumbled upon these adorable [and perfect for summer] ankle pants at Target.  Why was it significant that a piece of clothing would get more than my usual Target pass through?

Well, ever since I received J. Crew's newest catalog I've been obsessed with their polka dot cafe capris in this beautiful bright blue [$128].  These ankle pants reminded me of them, in a slightly darker blue, but at a fraction of the price [$28].  I just still can't decide if I'm so obsessed with J. Crew's version that I'll end up caving for them and leaving the Target pair in the dust...

favorites

I'm barely alive after my beach weekend, but at least I'm in one piece.  It was absolutely amazing to be back on the beach for an entire weekend and I already miss it.  Looks like I'll be going home a good bit this summer to get my fill!  After all the sales I didn't take advantage of this weekend, I was cruising through Loft's and noticed one of my summer staples in now on sale [$40].  Had to tell someone since this dress is comfortable and unique...not to mention I get tons of compliments whenever I have it on.

ASOS Summer Dress Roundup

Well, I'm on my way to the beach [Anna Maria Island] and can't wait to  relax with 13 girlfriends.  Sun, sand, and a beer in my hand...or two, or five.  Memorial weekend is here and that means no looking back at the weather.  Full steam ahead, I'm prepared to sweat through summer and totally enjoy it.

ASOS has always been my little hidden gem for cheap, trendy, cute clothing.  I've talked about them before, but for those of you that don't know, it's an online UK retailer that carries all sorts of clothing in all sorts of price ranges, but for the most part remains pretty reasonable.  Right now they are having a sale [20% off everything with code TAKE20].  Free shipping and free returns are the regular with them, so it's pure discounts and who doesn't love that?

I'm ready to get a couple staple summer dresses after swapping out my clothes the other night.  Below are some of my favorites from browsing the site.  Just an FYI, the prices aren't listed below, but all of these dresses are under $50.

Summer in the South

These past few days have been warm.  A little unexpected, but welcomed nonetheless.  Last night I swapped out my warmer weather clothing for my winter items and got so excited.  It felt good, and probably slightly overdue, but you never know when the weather will officially change for good down here in the south.  With the warmer weather and my trip to the beach this weekend, I've been mentally preparing outfits.  I can't get the one below out of my mind as my go to summer uniform.  That is, until it becomes SO hot that I won't be able to wear any form of pants.  Until then though, I plan on wearing lightweight pants, breezy tops, and wedges in the upcoming months.

Wedding Fun

The wedding I went to this past weekend was a grand ole time.  Saw tons of friends and partied like we were still in college.  Mistake?  Debatable.  Here are the few pictures I can post that are appropriate.

FF:ETSY

It's been a long while since I've featured anything from etsy and not because it's not there, I've just been too lazy to search for it.  That is until a new shop fell straight into my lap and I instantly fell in love.

Like I said yesterday, I've been on a home decor kick lately and Islimi's ikat patterned pillows immediately grabbed my attention.  These are the perfect pop of color and accent to add to a room and/or bed.  If you're a little worried about brights stealing the limelight, not all of the patterns are so intense.  I personally love an ikat print, but I understand if some don't always gravitate towards them.  As an accent to a room though, I'm in love.  These lovely pillows are priced from $10-$60 [for a set of 2].

This weekend I'm off to a friend's wedding on Bray's Island Plantation outside of Charleston and can't wait to see friends and dance the night away!  I'll try to share pictures, if I remember to take them!

foo fo you

My current apartment has a ridiculous amount of shelves.  I know I've told you that before, but I really can't stress how much space my roomie, Tippi, and I have to try to fill.  Because of this, I find myself, for the first time, looking at more home decor trinkets than clothing and accessories.  Weird?  Maybe, but I kind of like it.  I've begun to notice more things I like and how I really care to decorate a space.   Before, I would always just call my mom and she would come arrange everything for me.

One of the things I found myself always looking for, but never purchasing was a set of Foo Dogs.  What are Foo Dogs you ask?  Only the greatest, sometimes creepy, Chinese figurines that look great on shelves, tables, mantels, basically anywhere as an accent piece.  I found some at HomeGoods, but they were too small, although a striking green color.  Then etsy had some, but they were boring and expensive.  Other online retailers had them and they were priced too high.  AND THEN I saw that C. Wonder had a pair in a great bright cobalt.  Then I noticed they were included in C. Wonder's flash sale going on right now and I was sold.  I can't wait to put them on our shelves.  I promise one day I'll take pictures to show you all how much random shelving we have.

Sam & Libby

Target has another new brand, Sam & Libby.  These New York based designers bring fun, colorful sandals, flats, heels, and wedges to Target that [INMO] far outshine the Kate Young flop of a collection that was also newly introduced.

The pieces range from $22.99-$34.99 and are great for everyday or dress up.  They look beyond comfortable and have a perfect balance of color and neutrals.  I cans see myself living in a couple of these all through out summer.

Sole Society

I had cruised through Sole Society's website a time or two, but had yet to purchase anything.  Then, about a week or so ago, I was strolling through my second home, Nordstrom, and saw tons of cute shoes on display and they were all Sole Society.  I had no idea Nordstrom had started selling them, but I loved being able to see the shoes in person.

Did I mention that these babies are all extremely reasonable at prices ranging from $40-$80?  Nordstrom sells the Julianne Hough collection, but their website has all of those and more.  Definitely worth checking out!
