Heading into Fall

I guess between cleaning out my closet and the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, I have fall's cooler temps and beautiful scenery on my mind.  I'm hoping with August comes milder weather and more time outside (football here we come!).

I fell in love with this new J. Crew sweater when I saw it in their most recent catalog and was delighted when it was on sale (with an additional 40% off with code STYLE40) already.  To be honest, I'm not sure why, but I immediately ordered it, knowing I'd wear it to death in all of the colors.  I state my confusion because I'm usually the cheap ass one waiting for everything to go on sale AFTER the season is over.  This time it seems to have worked out in my favor.

I love colder weather, but enjoy it even more when I'm comfortable.  This sweater is going to get me through these in-between temps and more.  I plan on wearing it now with shorts, ankle pants, and a skirt or two.  Later, pairing it with jeans, scarves, and boots.  OH, I'm so ready.

Look4Less: Swiss Dots

I'll be honest, this edition of L4L is a close one.  Each blouse below varies in price depending on what discount is currently running, so one day they might be vastly different, but other days could be a matter of dollars.  Either way, they are both reasonable!

The Old Navy version is quite similar to the J. Crew one I've had my eye on for awhile.  I have not seen the ON one in person, but I can assure you, the J. Crew one is a beauty.  Perfect to dress up or down, tuck in or leave out, it's a great layering piece.  Swiss dots always grab my attention.  It's a texture I just can't get enough of and is perfect for mixing.  I just have to decide what color I want...

Spring Uniform

After being in Florida this weekend, I think I'm officially ready for spring...or at least chilly weather with the sun shining on you.  I love cold weather, but nothing beats cold weather when the sun is out.  I've been going through my closet looking for outfit ideas [a little tougher than usual because my closets keep collapsing from the weight...oops] and I keep mentally dressing myself in clothes more appropriate for the spring time temperatures.  I currently have a notepad full of outfit ideas sitting on my desk at work.  I would freeze to death if I tried to wear any of them now without a heavy layer, but where's the fun in that?  All I know is that as soon as the temperatures get a little warmer, I'll be wearing all of my cotton shift dresses with a chambray shirt underneath, booties, a statement necklace, and probably some type of vest.  Easy as a prostitute.

Outfit Inspiration

I saw one of my dear friends, Lauren Conrad, wearing this simple, feminine outfit the other week and I thought, "That is so perfect for a dinner date, and if I'm lucky, with friends and if I'm luckier, with a person of the opposite sex."  So naturally, I wanted to recreate it and show you all...if for nothing else, to prove that I have the potential to clean up nicely...just in case it's you that asks me out to dinner.

Cap Toes

I'm not sure if I would label cap toe shoes, especially flats, a trend.  I'm not saying they're not insanely popular right now [as they should be], but rather that these are yet again a classic design that gets amped up in colors of the moment as opposed to being "brought back" or a "revival."  Cap toes will always be a sartorial staple to me, even though I will venture to say I may not own the ones that started it all anytime soon.  Nonetheless, I appreciate all the new and exciting variations to this ever lasting style.  I most recently purchased this version from Old Navy in a neon yellow color that apparently has since sold out.  There are enough variations for you to find something that works with your closet though.  Good luck hunting!

[I would like to take a second to say THANK YOU to my beautiful friends Lindsey from Teach Chic, Laura, and Tippi.  Because of your gracious birthday presents, I am now the proud owner of this shirt that I professed my love for yesterday, this absolutely adorable dress, and perfect top!!!]
