Peplum Power

Peplums seem to be taking the fashion world by storm.  This, I am perfectly okay with because they have been one of my obsessions for awhile now.  First of all, it's the cutest addition to a shirt, skirt, or dress that still keeps the garment simple.  Second, I love that the style draws in at your natural waist while giving you some breathing room [comfort + style = my favorite].  Lastly, these styles are the perfect backdrop for any statement necklace you've ever been itching to wear.  They showcase these necklaces like no other garment, while still adding some interest to the bottom/middle.  I have one arriving today from ASOS and I can't wait to wear it, as in I've seriously been dreaming about it for the last week.  [disclaimer: I know my set below is too wide for the blog, but I didn't feel like fixing it so y'all could see the detail]

{etsy feature friday}

Well, I'm sick.  Just finishing up fighting a cold that has been more than annoying this week, so I have a weekend full of nothing.  It is probably for the best because next week is filled with parties and parent time for my friends Laura and Charles' engagement party [pics to come later].

With that being said, the etsy feature friday wasn't going to happen, but then I found the prettiest, brightest Native American jewelry from Rejoice the Hands and I couldn't keep it from y'all.  Growing up in the northwest I saw a lot of Native American jewelry and have always loved the raw, natural feel of the pieces.  Rejoice the Hands does a remarkable job designing unique pieces that stand out in the crowd.  They're not cheap, but the craftsmanship more than makes up for the price.

Spring Knits

Well, to put it lightly, Punxsutawney Phil is full of shit.  Six more weeks of winter was not on the menu for the South, and from my various readings of news sources and bloggers, it looks like we're not the only ones experiencing this unusual present from MoNat [mother nature, duh].  With this warmer climate, one needs to prepare for an awkward transitioning between seasons that requires items from both fall/winter wardrobes and the much welcomed spring items some of you may have already purchased/are purchasing.  To be honest, I love this time of the year.  A cold-ish spring allows for layering, but not to the point where you question whether you still resemble a lady, let alone a human being.  The easiest way to do this?  Knits.  Knit sweaters, long sleeves, etc. paired with the fun and exciting skirts you've had your eyes on.  I think I'm ready to embrace 60 degree weather with a splash of sunshine.

easy peasy blogger bun

It's no secret the blogger bun has been all the rage for the better part of the last year, if not longer.  It's simple, cute, and most of all pretty easy.  The only thing that gets me is that my hair doesn't always cooperate.  Problem solved since surfing various websites and seeing that there's an easy solution to perfecting this little go-to hair style: a tube sock.  No need to buy any crazy hair accessories, just a tube sock people, but for other reasons than your teenage brother/cousin/neighbor might be buying them.  Best of all, this solution caters to those with shorter hair, so no one is left behind!  Check out this tutorial from Bumble and Bumble's Sloane Sera.
