Happy Friday everyone! My life has started to balance itself out and I'm feeling a bit less stressed going into the weekend. The weather is perfect here in Atlanta and I am embracing every little chill in the air. I've started pulling out some of my Fall items to start incorporating them into my outfits and the ones I love the most are my dresses that I often wear with boots. SO when I was browsing through Old Navy's new arrivals I thought this dress was a perfect transition piece. I'm going to belt it now with flats and then add boots and/or tights when the temps get lower.
Bonus: 15% off today with code ONSAVEBIG making this dress a whopping $21.20.

[cards against humanity]
There are two things in life that I really enjoy: drinking and games you can play while drinking. Two of my longtime favorites are Apples to Apples and Game of Things. Times have changed...and I was exposed to a new game that blows these two out of the water: Cards Against Humanity. Think of it as the extremely dirty, inappropriate version of Apples to Apples.
My humor is sick and often times people think I'm creepy, but this is a game that is sure to offend everyone at some point, but also have people dying laughing. The thing I find most disturbing so far when playing with my friends is that they seem to know exactly which twisted answer is mine. I guess they know me too well...

[the game frequently sells out, but put your name on the email list for when the replenishments are released or purchase on ebay like I did and then buy the two expansion packs]

lately
I feel like my life is spinning out of control and then, briefly, I have control of it just long enough to watch it fly back into chaos. My apologies for abandoning le blog for a week...I needed a break. Work is crazy, social life is crazy, dog sitting was crazy, finding a new place to live and finalize said new place with crazy landlord was crazy, etc. etc. etc. I haven't had a minute to sit and relax and reload. I'm 100% sure I'll survive, I just needed a mini meltdown and vacation from all adult responsibilities.
In one of my many distractions yesterday, I decided to wander over to Nordstrom for lunch and browsing. [side note, if you've never eaten at any of the Nordstrom restaurants...DO. They're so amazingly delicious] While browsing, I stumbled upon a perfect Fall layering piece that reminded me of a Tory Burch jacket I had been lusting after earlier this summer. This jacket was my ideal layering piece. The sleeves are a heavy sweater material, but the body is a tweed with leather trim detailing. So comfortable and movable. I'm pretty sure this will be my next purchase since the crisp weather seems to be sticking around.
Speaking of Tory Burch, I swung by C.Wonder [still beyond excited that Atlanta has a store] and found the prettiest silk maxi dress on sale. Sadly, I tried to find a picture to show y'all and it, for some reason, is not on their website. So, sorry for the tease, but I love it so much I had to tell someone.

In other news....I am SO mad about this.

NR for Macy's
Nicole Richie was the next one up for a collab with Macy's Impulse shop and her line is pretty true to her style. I get so frustrated when designers do collaborations and use it as an excuse to design crap that is NOTHING like their usual aesthetic. HELLO...the reason why I buy your collaborations is because I can't afford the real line...not because I'll buy anything with your name on it [actually I've bought tons of questionable things because of the name on the label, but that's besides the point]. I'm a big fan of the Richie and love her Winter Kate and House of Harlow lines. I swooned over a couple items in the mix and want to see them in person, so I'll be hitting up my local [crazy] Macy's [which I'm pretty sure does more drug business on the weekends than revenue] to check them out...hold the drugs.

the long and short of it
Long sleeved mini dresses. Oxymoron? Maybe, but they keep popping up on celebrities and websites and I'm starting to like them. They are the epitome of the mantra "only show off one part of your body" and in this case, it would be le legs. Covered up on top, flaunting your stems on the bottom...great balance. Cat Deeley [obsessed...I mean who honestly dresses that good without a stylist.] and Sarah Chalke look amazing in their versions.

frugal[party]friday
FYI...this post has nothing to do with fashion and everything to do with a good time. Meet the Flabongo. If you don't already have one, go get yo' self one. Seriously.
And, a parting note, my new favorite blog:

look4less
I've become obsessed with the dark tealish-green and oxblood [horrible name] colors that are everywhere for Fall. I have been scooping up anything in those colors due to my obsession and am currently craving them in skinny jeans. They're still dark [which I favor] and add just enough color to spice up your outfit, but you can still wear them with everything. They look amazing tucked into boots with layers up top or with a flowy blouse and vest. I'm sold. They come in all sorts, but the AG stevies I saw at Anthropologie were the exact shades I wanted, but of course I'm cheap, so I started looking for cheaper pairs. Well, I found them...at a fraction of the price.

gap+clu
It seems like retailers are jumping at the chance to collaborate with other designers again this Fall. This time around it's Gap and Clu getting together for a comfy, classic exclusive line for Gap staying true to their usual basics. They've put their standard twist on Gap's basics, so this is a great chance to get something from this brand that's a fraction of their usual price.

topshop at nordy
As of yesterday, Topshop is being sold at Nordstrom. It's not a h&m situation where you can't order directly from them, but it's nonetheless a cool partnership that exposes more people to the fun British brand that doesn't have a strong brick and mortar presence in the states. I also love it because I get more reward certificates from Nordstrom.

Kirna Zabete for Target
Another collaboration for the Target people, this time with trendy-luxe NYC boutique Kirna Zabete. The collection includes tons of different clothing and accessories with prices ranging from $10-$200. They did a great job picking pieces that represent their usual budget blowing options. The ones I'm scoping are below.
